The New York State Library Assistants' Association is comprised of individuals representing various types of libraries throughout New York State. We also have members from other states who support NYSLAA's goals. A Regular Member is any person working as a library assistant in a library in New York State. An Associate Member is anyone who is interested in the professional growth and recognition of library assistants, but does not qualify as a Regular Member. The present Executive Council consists of seven officers from academic and research libraries. The Association provides a quarterly newsletter, a directory of members, an annual conference, and scholarships for their members.
The goals of the Association, voted on and passed at the 10th Annual Conference held at Le Moyne College in 1988, are:
- To enhance the status of NYS Library assistants;
- To further professional growth;
- To provide a network of communication among its members; and
- To cooperate with similar organizations on local, state and national levels to achieve these goals.
